The idea for this came from Gackt's sad message about his funeral attendance this week and from the thought that Gackt took to Bunraku his gifts from Ken Ogata.
Sad though the occasion is, it's a warm thought that Gackt steps into the line of a pedigree theatrical tradition because of his association with such a respected actor. And one who was happy to be his friend.
Pleased the idea struck a chord with you too. I'm trying not to be depressed about Gackt's hole in his diary for that dinner next week :(
Are you sure you want this on your LJ?? It isn't bento!
I'm teasing - do with it what you like: stuff that gets posted unrestricted is for anyone to use as they wish. Sorry about the delay in reply - time difference issue, not indifference issue!
Oh, I wonder if Gackt would like this piece - or not. I've seen clips of him talking (in a language that I can't understand, of course!) about his preferences re food, clothes, music, etc but not about what he likes to read.
Plenty of pix of him with his nose in a book though! Didn't he talk about bunking off school sometimes and taking an English book to the river - or something like that?
Glad that you liked the piece, btw. When I was watching the "making of" DVD, I was struck by the humour that Ogata showed in dealing with Gackt and the other actors. He had a gracious way of making fun (making the work fun) as a means of giving guidance and even criticism; it's a generous touch when you're that well-known and admired. He seems less sarcastic than Gackt but still with a similarity in humour - that was what sent me hunting for a screencap from this particular scene - and the light effect was just a great bonus.
[ Hee - that's funny! When I looked at the interview translation post again, I noticed that chikotori thanks YOU for help with the translation!! (but maybe you didn't get to see the schooldays bit) ]
I figured I helped on that one. We often team up when the timing is right! So yeah, it sounded familiar XDD I just helped with some parts she had trouble with, and did read it, but forgot about it ^^;;;;
Oh? You two work together sometimes?? Great - she's a Saiyuki fan! I look forward to more collaborations like you two, then - there's so much talent on offer on this comm that pretty well anything is possible - and that's an exciting thought.
This is beautiful. I especially like the first two lines. The image suits it well....and well bugger, it's too early in the morning for me to express myself well in words.
Anyway, I'm pleased that you liked this - I was happy to get such a good screencap: Gackt looks just right - as ever!
Hope you dun mind but I'm gonna quote from one of your translated interviews in the reply above. Your translations are always good to read - if you're ever bored with your study hint hint. Ha - you may be early-morning-ish but I'm still anxious to know what Gackt says in that TV Station interview with the judo champ!
Thank you. The motivation was pretty powerful. I keep trying to shut out a picture of Gackt's diary with a line through a certain dinner date. Or maybe it's like Chinese and you draw a black box round someone's name? Not sure of the custom in Japan.
Gulp - yeah, I know I still haven't done anything about the fb entry
Mm. There wasn't really a way to make anything happy out of this. The best I could do was choose a - as you say - beautiful picture of these two exceptional men together.
Thanks for reading and leaving a comment. I appreciate it particularly if you are still having PC difficulties. I keep hoping to see that you've got your stuff back. Sigh. Poor you - it must make everything so much more troublesome.
Hi, I'm trying to round up all the images for the fanbook today, and I wondered if you had a bigger copy of this. the fanbook format is 6" x 9", and it's better to reduce files than try to enlarge them. Can you please send me a bigger file by link or attachment within the next few days? thanks!
Hello. I'll take a look in my WIP files. Trouble is that the GA 400 pixel width restriction (which makes me frustrated when I'm after a W-I-D-E look!) means that I tend to bespoke the size to fit the 400 format. And I made this from a screencap from my Ama kakeru ryu no gotaku DVD so the quality probably won't be brilliant anyway.
Does it make any difference to you if the format is png, bmp or jpg? (I tend to favour the first two but could possibly find a variety on the datastick so please say which is best!)
Yes, I have done this but it IS nice to have the frontpage with some pictures, no? It can look a bit like all lists and admin otherwise.
I always enjoy it when, for example, the General gives the heads up for a magazine with a good photo of Gackt on the front cover; that's so nice to open up to!
I'm back home now and will rummage round the datasticks - I didn't remember that I had so many!
Thanks for the format advice. Hopefully I'll find something suitable.
Hello! If what you find at http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3381/3253707479_d2924eaec7_b.jpg will do for your purposes, please ignore my last question about portrait/landscape.
If this larger version isn't suitable, please tell me how I should change it. Thanks. Sorry for the trouble with the original; sometimes my enthusiasm gets the better of quality considerations!
This is a bit of a dumb question but is the 2:3 ratio (6" x 9") portrait or landscape, please? Am I fitting to 6" width or 6" height - or doesn't it matter if some things are on vertical layout and others on landscape?

I : You really weren’t a model student (laugh).
G : If the weather was fine I would go to the riverside and read an English book or something."
Interesting, huh? I'd like to know what he reads now!
