GACKT IDOL Cover Song Winner

Shima Uta is originally a song by The Boom, written in response to stories of lovers separated by war, in particular the United States of America's invasion of the island of Okinawa in World War 2. Especially poignant as Gackt is from Okinawa, and there is still a US airbase there. Here, Gackt sings in a traditional arrangement and in the Okinawan dialect.

His family moved to Kyoto when he was about what, seven? I wonder if he ever listened to American pop and rock on any of the US Armed Forces stations that broadcast in Japan and Okinawa; if they're like the military stations in Europe, their range is not very far.

This is not a easy song to sing to. And Gackt did a great job at it.

I just want to check. This was never officially released right? I'm not sure if i'm allowed to ask. If it was never officially release. Can ask if someone could point me to the right direction to get the music file. I just love this.

I believe it was released on a CD compilation. I don't know which album it's on, but on wikipedia it states that it has been released.

This is a fascinating video! Like some of the others, I'd be keen to know if there's an audio version somewhere - I've never heard Gackt singing like this before, either Okinawa style or as support/joint to another singer.

I think I caught sight of a couple of guitarists adding rhythm and looking mighty like You and Chachamaru too!
