From 2009! One of Gackt's most energetic and charismatic live performances - he's got his guitar on a strap on his thigh - Swing that axe, Gackt!
with Gackt are You, Chirolyn, Minami and Chachamaru!

Date: 2010-01-17 11:23 pm (UTC)Thank you, I've done my fangirling for today.
But srsly, he looks and sounds incredible here. And this is from 2009! Our man keeps getting better and better.... How is that possible, when we always think he's already perfect! 0__o
But I've always wished that he'd finally fix those English sentences.
What do you, native English speakers, think about this? It doesn't bother you too much, I guess? Maybe it bothers me more because I'm Japanese and...um...an E/J translator at that! XD

Date: 2010-01-18 03:51 am (UTC)But srsly, so many so-called "top Japanese artists" fall into this rather embarrassing trap of grammatical mistakes in their English lyrics. Why, oh why don't they just ask ANY native speakers to check them!? G could just ask his bodyguards, for instance. 9_9
I'd rather not see G included in this group. =/

Date: 2010-01-19 02:04 am (UTC)in this song ("Another World") it doesn't bother me. his accented english is attractive, adorable, comprehensible and appropriate. other songs are more mixed: his little missteps are negligible -- you get what he means, but it is so forced, distorted and distracting as to sometimes be un-musical. maybe i'm imagining things, but i am pretty sure i can tell when he understands clearly what he is saying and when it is a string of sounds that he doesn't personally inhabit, like his special french on that cooking show. XDDD. his most egregious english affronts are misplaced emphases, like every time he sings "decayed" when he intends "decade". i can't understand why he doesn't fling the libretto at one of the many, many willing and worshipful native speakers and friends, and just have them mark it up for him, or something. maybe he doesn't care what we think? is it possible he doesn't realize it's right on the line?
