Gackt rocks Gundam, (this is a cover of 'Soldiers of Sorrow' the theme to the 1978 anime Mobile Suit Gundam that spawned a franchise of Gundam spin offs, movies and merchandise. Gackt's such a fan that he made an album of Gundam theme songs, (0078-0088) originals and covers - this live aired Dec 12, 2007.

This is a great cover and a lot more tense than the original.
Some people on YT, no doubt Gundam fans, were complaining about this cover, saying "He had to make even THIS a rock song?"
And I thought....
"It's GACKT. DUH!!!" lol

Thanks very much for finding this. I have the CD but you don't get Gackt looking all gritty and galaxy-commanding on the studio version!

Re excused early comment/story, some people are weird - Ai senshi is, or at least makes, a good rock song. In the hands of Gackt (er - the throat of Gackt?) it makes a d*mn good rock song! Some pepo can't even complain about the right stuff, eh ;=)
