that is too sad 'cause I only now recalled that it was about violins I have seen such ones on the exhibition couple of years ago but they were created by Yamaha and I do not even remember if the picture said anything about the company creator.
What a gorgeous violin! And excellent quality (did we expect anything else?). Though I'm very intrigued by the 5 strings. This is very different for a violin and now I'm itching to try it out. Is there a different set of notes/scale? I might have to jump over to the Yamaha store and try it out. Thank you for the information! ^__^
I think the scale is all the same but the reading is different you will have to know how to read notes in multiple clefs if you're a beginner 4 string are just fine for you since my friend told me that 5 strings are used by professionals. You can also play strings violin without touching 5th (I think it's called C) string. But I'm sure somebody in the store will explain you every detail much better. :)
Thank you for that explanation. ^__^ I'm really psyched to try this now. I've played traditional violin for 6 years but lost interest recently. Maybe this is what I need to challenge myself again. (^_^)v
There are a few models (series) which are quite similar ( the outside look) but the sound is amazingly different.I didn't know that by now.(I thought it's only one model)
We have one 4-strings Yamaha model (the same as this one) at the music school.(hah I checked today) And while watching new PV for a million time I thought my gosh we have the same up there at music school but it's impossible that such sound comes from that violin.
Now I know why. The one we have there is probably silent model.(the same thing is with pianos) But for such a sound in the PV bow plays the most important rule. (in my opinion) My friend played on the model we have with both yamaha (some special kind) and other bow and it had different sound length, sound strength and vibration was quite reduced. But since I'm not that much into violin playing I'm not sure.
Also I'm trying to connect this with release velocity in piano playing. Yamaha electric piano that I played one had upgrade version to this feature. Since it's all chip monitoring it's interesting how higher speed fingering can produce such acoustic but yet again clean and digital sound. Key weight is also an amazing feature.
So I guess some of those elements can be applied in electric violins.
I'm just glad that violin players (which I admire so much xD) came on their own with updated instrument quality. We (piano players) have many electronic piano instruments that can provide all kind of different piano sound and tone range that goes high upper usual octave. You can adjust sound (it's strength and length) much better than on classical version.
Many ppl (me too) believes that such a sound isn't natural which is true. But in the case of pop and rock or jazz music this is more than achievement. Plus there is a constant need for spreading possibilities of sound creating.
And yeah the costs are quite high but with pianos it's even worse. xD
I'm wandering if this is the violin Gackt gave You for his b-day since I didn't see the photo. Or it's just a special feature for this PV only.
No problem! You is an amazing musician and person. Haha I'll stop there since I tend to go on and on about him (^^;) I couldn't agree more. I thought that was a very sweet gift for him.
Wow, thank you for this! I was also curious about that. I don't play the violin so I cannot tell you about things like that but when I saw it I was capitivated by the design. Definitly different from what I am used to seeing when I think of a violin. Also there is a picture of You on there XD Win win says I! ♥
I've always loved the violin, but never wanted to play it. I thought it looked way too hard for my simple clumsy fingers. Then I wanted to learn to play not going to lie, it was because of You and I thought one of my friends knew how. When I saw his picture up of his with a violin looking like he could play it I asked him if he could play and he said yeah. I asked him about it later thinking I'd ask for lessons and he admittied he was just pretending in the picture and really had no clue. I was so bummed. XD
Ah, now I can see that it's the model that I tried in Hong Kong (I used a purple one in Tom Lee music store in TST). It has a much better tone than some of the other EVs. Also the 5th string takes the range down to the same as a viola (i.e.C below middle C at the bottom - viola does not have the E string at the top but stops at A) which makes it more versatile as a support instrument (because it can go under the voice more easily).
EVs come in some weird shapes but this one keeps the classical reference which is nice.
Thanks very much for showing. Yes, it's very cool! Just a shame it doesn't do the practice for you ;=)
