I've been playing with a cheap kaleidoscope making software, and came up with some designs that might prove useful. They could be used as backgrounds, have the centers cropped out and used as frames for text or photos, CD labels, whatever.
These will be reposted on my LJ journal.

More, and larger sizes 1. Diabolos mask. I'm not sure about the legality of recycling his copyrighted imagery...

2. Training Days Dancers

3. A star made from Karadin's drawing "Dragon of Echigo." I can get lots of neat abstracts out of this drawing because of the wide range of textures!

4,5, 6 - these are based on open source photos of snow leopards. I think Gackt might like their vaguely sinister feel.

Date: 2008-09-29 10:47 pm (UTC)The legality question more or less depends on jurisdiction. Yes, it's a technical infringement because you dun have a licence to reproduce the image but most laws have an exception for private use/study (i.e. not for business/profit) and, in any case, the quantum of loss to the copyright-holder is probably nil so the ability to take action is unlikely (courts don't waste their time to assist the merely narked - you need to show real damage). Most remedies for infringement give the rightsholder an equivalent market-rate for a licence to do the infringeing act and quite how tiny that would be on LJ I can't be bothered to think but it's pretty tiny! Sorry - didn't mean to go on that long, but you did enquire ;)
That's a slick piece of software! You could make a fun quiz by using it on the detail of Gackt concert/MV costumes and then getting pepo to guess which event/song the costume is from. My dad used to make this type of game by taking photos of common objects from weird angles and then asking us to guess what the objects were - kept me entertained (and entirely foxed) for hours!
Thanks for showing this. And sorry if I was the source of the fanbook confusion - I'm far more reliable on copyright issues!
