an entry for the challenge Gackt as Uesugi Kenshin

Finally, I have a new PC and can finish something (so many started-only things ha ha) for this challenge. 

Here is a piece to represent Gackt as Kenshin, but it is for you to choose whether the speaker (singer even) of the words is Gackt-san or Uesugi Kenshin.  For me, the phrase, "living close to the flame" reflects the brightness and daring of both of them.  Can you see that in this tribute to them?  I hope so!




The image comprises a friend's scan from the Diabolos tour book and my star screencap from the "Ama kakeru ryu no gotoku" DVD.  The words are mine.

Earlier this year, Gackt was asked for the two guiding principles which reflected the way he lived and approached his work.  His reply was "persistence" (not giving up - he used the proverb about dripping water wearing away a stone) and "willingness to try" (to take the risk of failure in the hope of a gain - he used the proverb about needing to go into the tiger's den if you want a tiger's skin).  I thought that these two qualities were shown also by Kenshin in his defence of Echigo and his determination to build a better life for his territory (people).

Mm - I bet I didn't tag this entry properly and you had to edit it for me? I've just done the same thing again (accepted the preview before I've got to the bottom of the posting pro forma) - sorry! I realized as soon as I saw the draft sliding away from me across the wires.

Is this still causing a problem, please? I can see it perfectly well! And I've tried it on 3 different PCs with different browsers and it looks OK on all of them.

Is anyone else having trouble with it, please? I'm not sure what to do about it as the URL is OK and it's showing nicely for me.

I don't know why I still can't see it, I am using Mozilla Firefox.

That is really weird. I've opened the GA site in Mozilla Firefox (was in IE before)and the image is there fine.

I don't have great tech skills so I'm not sure what to suggest as a cure. Any ideas, please?

When I got the rejection for the last post, I did check again this morning at the upload site (Flickr) but it all looks OK - even the links in the copy entry in the rejection email all worked OK and went straight to the picture!

I don't think I have the IT knowledge to work this puzzle out without more clues. Does the Army run to a Chief Engineer?

Thanks. I re-posted and I've typed in the html this time in case that was causing a problem. I checked the preview and the pix were there OK though I couldn't see the LJcuts (but this is normal for preview, I think?)

And a very nice idea to include Redemption Gackt in it. Another brother you could've added was...hnn more brothers..there's Genesis. Lau Wong. and new Gidde. ^^

Though, "living close to the flame"..it sorta reminds me of moths.. ^^'.. not that Kenshin/Gackt is moth!!! All depends on how you view it.
But as you once said: rather be brave dust than not. ^^

As side note. I can see the image clear. I'm using firefox 3. And checked on IE and another older firefox. no problems at all!

Glad you like the "brothers"! Gackt's concert costumes and Kenshin's non-concert costumes are not so far apart, huh?

Ah - you know I had a block for so long about this challenge, and then came all the PC woes. So, yes, finally I did submit something - even thought G and K each deserve so much more.

Ha ha - your moth comment is very funny! Surely, for moths, it is "DYing close to the flame"?

Thanks for checking the image, kind mingoes. I did the same - even downloaded the latest Firefox to check. I do foul up the tech sometimes but just can't find anything wrong here. ??? (if you could see my wrinkled eyebrows you would smile at lot!)

Neat icon you have there - black and white and deadly! [ but it's scared the lovely Diva away ]

Pleased that you liked the poem ideas here and the screen cap - I sure understood what Gackt meant about persistence when I was trying (time beyond my meagre counting abilities) to pause on the exact frame for the maximum flash!

Actually my original screencap WOULD make a good wall: it is much brighter and with more colour than the pic you see here (I had to mute the colours and make the image 30% transparent to get a coherence with the Diabolos picture).

"so thought out"? Sigh. There was so much to think about with this topic that I wrote out a whole A4 side of themes (hee - like a school project). I worked up about 5 of the themes (yeah, usual picpoem pieces) and tried to post 2 or 3 more of them to GA but they looked crap cos they don't fit the layout width; I'll try to upload to the LJ gallery at the w/e to see if I can grab a permitted link to a new window and a bit more width. My ideas are often just too darn FAT to squish into 400 pixels!
