This may be a stupid question...I think it is...but I am just weird.
Are they/did they put Furrin Kazan on dvd...like..for people to buy it!?
If so...can I buy it in America...or do I have to get it off the internet..?

Fuurin Kazan has been released in DVD sets by the NHK, however, I don't know that they are subtitled, or if they can be purchased outside Japan. If they can only be purchased in Japan, I-TM4U can get the sets for you.

The DVD sets are not subtitled and they are HELLA expensive. They have been released in two different versions. The first one consists of six volumes and each volume is 12000yen, so it's 72000yen in total (about $650). The second one consists of two box sets, the first one costs 42000yen and the second one 36000yen, in total 78000yen (about $710). I don't know whether these feature different content though but I guess both at least contain all episodes of the drama. You can buy both versions at CDJapan and the box sets at yesasia.
As for learning Japanese with them, please consider that it's a history drama and therefore the Japanese spoken there differs from what is commonly used nowadays, so it might not be uberly useful (just my two cents, ne, please don't be offended ^^).

Yesasia.com has them for a bit cheaper. Part 1 is $438.49 and part 2 for 374.99. Those are for the box sets. And you get a free toy! :D

That's about $810 combined, so it's not exactly cheaper ^^; I was stating the combined price.

DVD boxes of dramas are very expensive in general in Japan. A box set of a regular drama (mostly between nine and twelve episodes) usually costs $200 and more. As for why they are so expensive, I really have no idea. I personally think they're really not worth the money because let's face it, how many times are you probably going to watch one and the same drama... And they never carry subtitles so for people who can't understand Japanese it's so not worth it even more.

but even with regular dvds, like tv shows, they are cheap in comparison to the Fuurin Kazan DVDs.

Youre right about it not being entirely worth buying. PLUS, it's in the old style of Japanese. Even if you did know Japanese, it may not help you :/

But you have to keep in mind that Fuurin Kazan consists of 50 episodes and runtime is about 2200 minutes which is way more than most things that get put on DVD so the price will be equally higher. Not that I think the high price is justified, I just want to point out how it comes that it is so expensive.

Usually I'm all for buying original merchandise but for drama DVDs, it's a different matter XD;

(lol I was thinking for a while what to write in this comment and all the time I had to stare at your icon. It made me dizzy XD~)

Good point! I think NHK is making each episode a bit more expensive than it should be, unless cool shit comes on each disk (like easter eggs, or behind the scenes stuff, etc.)

If i can afford it, I will buy it. Of if I find a better deal, I WILL take it. XD

(that is how i weaken my opponents, or anyone. lol my secret weapon!)
