Can I say how great it is to have Gackt's Red and Blue Filmography? I've never seen the vids on anything but a smallish computer screen, and downsized at that! And now the kids can be quieted with the promise of getting to watch Gacchan. My son who is not too verbal jumped up and down at REDEMPTION - 'This is my most favorite part!"

But the other questions were -

METAMORPHOZE - Is Gackt Dead? (as he's floating in the vacuum of space after his Gundam has blown up, I would say yes.)

LUNA HYMN - Is Gackt Dead? (as he's a cyborg that's been shot in the head, I would say yes)

I KNOW MY LOVE CAN NEVER REACH YOU - Is Gackt Dead? (no, but everyone else in the video seems to be)

SEKI RAY - Is Gackt Dead? (as that is either a body in the snow, or his coat, without which he would be very cold, this may be a yes)

ANOTHER WORLD - Is Gackt Dead? (Gunshot wound, no resolution)

OASIS - Is Gackt Dead (let's say he's taking a nap)

SECRET GARDEN - Is Gackt Dead? (he's disappearing, so let's say he may be a ghost, so yes)

DREAMS YOU PURSUED - Is Gackt Dead? (struck by car, yeppers)



I see a theme developing.

Its always a shock the first time you see these videos on a real screen, isn't it?
To bad the video quality of the Viz release is so crappy. *giggles* I remember getting the the subtitled version, having owned the originals since they were released and it was like "WOW! Hello pixels!" XD

As for the "deceased Gackt" theme...well what can you say? That boy is: (a) morbid and (b) just really likes to play dead! -and why not? He does a damn good job of it! XD

The only loss of resolution in the vids I noticed was Another World, but I have wondered why it couldn't have been better, whenever Gackt produces his own goods, they are always of the highest quality.

Ah, I remember endless chat convo discussing those imageries. None of us have conclusive answers tho. I think after Gackt answered straightforwardly about the Le Ciel PV, he repented and never gives any straight answers again. Some, or most, fans seem to prefer that as it gives them endless opportunity to speculate (I, however, need closure! *prefers immediate gratification*) XD

Most of his works obsess on the theme of, not death, but mmm.. the life after? Either as another being, or being reborn as human. He still goes in search of the elusive "What is human" (or sumthg like that, I forgot the exact words) theme pursued by Malice Miser.. I could still find that interviews yeaaaaaars after MM disbandment. And he was still trying to fulfill Kami's wishes (up until Fuurin Kazan, perhaps.. since there's a connection between that ..what do you call those flag things they carry into battlefield? ..and a MM interview). This is a guy with a long memory ^^;

O_O That's so true, and I never realized that. Somehow I am very amused by this list... it must be time for me to go to sleep. XD

Oasis and Secret Garden confuse me to no end, and after repeated passes through the lyrics, I have my own interpretation, but for all I know I could be way off the tangent of what Gackt actually meant. This slow person needs guidance, although I don't mind open endings. Do you know a good place where I can find a collection of discussions and/or interviews related to the meaning behind Gackt's lyrics and PVs?

Ah, I've been wondering when I would see Gackt on my actual TV, but then the other time my bro killed my DVD player, so I bought a new one. And this one plays avi and mp4 mpgs, So I could burn some disc or put them on a USB and plug it and and watch. SO KEWL..but lately haven't been watching him on my big screen.. -.-

Death as in it's not the end of life. Death for it's worth giving your life protecting a dream. Love transcending time, space, and death. No problem with that. That makes him our hero, right? ^^

I don't much like that theme....I don't like the thought of a dead Gackt. And i wish I had the filmographys...your lucky to have them!!

LOL! xD That was funny, in the sense that I was like, "Oh Gackt and your obsession with death." But, that's one of the reasons that I adore Gackt's PVs.

Most of them deal with death, life after death, and essentially life and how we choose to live it, as is the case in Another World. How we should take advantage of it like in Oasis or in Metamoprhoze (where 'he' takes advantage of his life by dying in order to protect someone he loves), how we should cherish it in Secret Garden and Seki Rei, how the love that we have in life can still be transferred after death in Luna Hymn and My Love Can Never Reach You, and how in Dreams You Pursued he is basically saying to live on and live well even if the person you loved has passed away. Live so you can honor them and the dreams you once had together.

Those are how I see his PVs anyway, and I love every second of them. ^^
