“Aya…” I called her name, holding the bracelet that I gave to her.

“Why do you have to die like this? Why do you have to leave me?” I whispered as tears started to flow from my eyes. It has been a month since her death. My love… Aya.

~*~

“Satoru-kun” she called me out. I smiled as I hold her hand.

“Nani, Aya-chan?” Her smile suddenly disappeared. It made me worry.

Then she spoke “I’m going to miss you.” I gave out a sigh.

“I’ll miss you, too. But it will just be a month. So, don’t give me that look. It doesn’t suit you.” I said staring at her eyes. She nodded and smiled as I wrap my arms around her and rested my head on her left shoulder.

 “I love you, Aya-chan.”
“I love you, too, Satoru-kun.”

“Oka-san.” I smiled at my mother who has a worried look written in her face.

“Take care, Satoru.” She told me. I nodded then turned my gaze to Aya, who stood beside her.

“Aya-chan” I sighed and took her hand. Then my mother headed back home, since she already knows my plan.

“What is it?” she asked. I’ll miss that angelic voice of hers. I pulled out an item from my pocket.

“I want you to have this, so that you’ll always remember me when I’m away.” It was a bracelet. I made it the night before my departure. It has a sakura-shaped pendant, which she really adores.

“Satoru-kun” I saw the glimmer in her eyes. It made me happy. I place the bracelet on her right wrist.

“It’s beautiful.” Then she turned to me and smiled.

“Arigato.” Her smile was priceless.

“I’ll be back. I promise.” I said and pressed my lips to hers.

A month has passed. Our performance in the capital was over. And I’d be able to see everyone again, especially Aya. I entered our house.

“Tadaima!” But instead of receiving smiles and a simple ’Welcome back’, I was greeted by sad faces. It was quite unusual for our family.

“Oka-san. Did something happen?” I asked as I knelt in front of her. She paused for a while before she spoke.

“Satoru... It’s Aya.” She whispered.

“What happened to her?” Fright and worry took over me. She put her hand on top of mine.

“There was a group of bandits who came to our town a few days ago. There was a ramble. They’re the ones who started the chaos. And a lot of innocent people were injured and killed, including Aya.” I gasped.

“Where is she? Is she alright?” She gave me a smile to comfort me. But I know that something is behind it.

“She is currently at rest due to her injuries.” Then she tightened her hold in my hand.

“But she is not showing any signs of recovering.” She gave out a sigh. “Satoru. You need to see her. She needs you.” I nodded and bowed to her before leaving.

It only took me seconds to reach Aya’s house. I was greeted by her father, and he immediately took me to her room. There, I saw her, laying on her futon. She was very pale, and almost lifeless. Her mother was beside her. But she stood up the moment she saw me.

“Satoru. I’m glad you’re back.” She said, almost crying. I bowed to her before I knelt beside Aya, taking her hand in mine.

“What happened to her?”  I asked. Worry was written in my face.

“She was poisoned.” I turned to Aya’s father.

“They have discovered that the weapons that those bandits used have poison in it. And worst, the cure can only be found in the capital.” I turn my gaze back to Aya. “The others who were also injured have already died during these past few days.” He added. Then I lowered my head, never letting go of her fragile hands.

“I’m sorry.” I said to them.

“It’s not your fault.” Aya’s mother spoke. Then I felt a hand on my left shoulder. “She needs you, especially at times like this.” Then she left the room along with her husband.

“Aya-chan” I whispered her name as I broke into tears. She opened her eyes and looked at me, giving me a smile.

“Satoru-kun” I couldn’t help but shed more tears.

“Aya… Who did this to you?” She held my hand with her shaky ones.

“I’m so happy to see you again.” Seeing her in this condition, I started to blame myself, for I was not by her side when she needed me. I kissed her forehead then rested my head on hers.

“Forgive me… Aya…” Then she cupped my cheek and gently pushed me.

“Don’t blame yourself. It’s not your fault.” She wiped the tears that flowed from my eyes as I held her hand. “I love you, Satoru.” I smiled at her.

“I love you, too… Aya…” I leaned forward and pressed my lips on hers. I pulled back and stared at her eyes. But my world has ended when she closed her eyes and her hand gracefully slides down from my grasp. I cried even more and took her in my arms.

 “Aya!!!”

~*~

I opened my eyes after remembering all of those events.

“Aya… I’ll avenge you....” I said while facing her grave.

“Are you sure about this, Satoru?” It was Yukihiro, my best friend.

“I am.” I stood up before leaving her grave.

~*~

“Satoru, behind you!” It was too late. I wasn’t able to evade the attack. I felt a cold metal that went through me. But the pain didn’t bother me. I pushed myself forward then swung my blade towards my attacker. It hit him. He fell to the ground, soaked in his own blood.

“I… did it… Ah!” We might have killed those bastards. But I was brought to my limit due to their attacks.

“Satoru!” My companions cried out. I held my wounded stomach and fell to the ground. I can hear them calling me. But everything was blurry.

 “I love you, Satoru.”

“Aya…”  I smiled after seeing a vision of Aya’s smiling face.

“Satoru! Hang on there!” It was Yukihiro’s voice. Then tears started to flow from my eyes.

“I can’t wait to see you again, Aya…” I gave out my last breathe and closed my eyes.

Hundred years later, Tokyo 2004

“Aya-chan, were you able to get all of the costumes?” Hirota-san’s voice echoed throughout the corridor.

“Hai!” I replied as I finished putting everything in place, of course with the help of everyone else.

“This is your first day at job and you’re doing great. Keep it up.” He then went out after giving that compliment. All of a sudden, Rei-san called me.

“Oh. Aya, will you come here for a sec?” I started to walk out of the dressing room.

“Coming!” Then I accidentally lost my balance and was expecting to hit the cold marble floor. To my surprise, I didn’t.

“Are you okay?” asked an unknown voice. I stood up and spoke to the person who saved me, keeping my head down.

“Ano… I’m fine… Thank you for saving me.” Then he spoke.

“You seem to be new here. Oh. Let me introduce myself.” He extended his hand. When I looked up, it was…

“Gackt.” It took me a while to recover before I took his hand and told my name.

“Aya…” He gave me a smile before he let go of my hand

“Ano… Have we met before?” I slightly shook my head.

“I don’t think so.” He nodded in agreement.

“I see.” We were just standing there when I broke the silence.

“Ano… I gotta go. Nice meeting you, Gackt-san.” I bowed then left. I was about to enter the next room when I noticed that Gackt was still there. Looking at my direction, smiling. I returned the smile before proceeding into the room.

~*~

“Gakuto. Let’s get ready.” I was brought back to reality when YOU spoke.

“Ah… Hai." I replied as I enter the dressing room.

“So, what do you think about the new girl?” I paused for a while.

“You mean Aya?” I asked.

“Wow. Cute name.” he said with a childish accent.

“Well, she looks familiar to me.” He looked at me for a while.

“An old friend?” I shook my head.

“I don’t think so.” Then he grabs his guitar and spoke.

“Hmm… Maybe she is someone that you know during your past life.” That caught my full attention.

“Eh?” He laughed at my confused look.

“I was just joking. But, you know, that could be possible.” I finished putting on my accessories.

“Hmm… Maybe…” Now I really want to know her better.

“Ok! Get ready guys!” After everything was done, we head for the stage and began the concert.
