I was thinking that first too (I remember the talk about it =3) but to me it looks as if he also spreads his index finger out, that's why I was asking. Maybe I'm just not really seeing it, but I really think he also spreads his index finger. Which google tells me would be the "LOVE" sign. Metal would be the one with thumb on ring and index finger.
