sildilGACKT!
First of all, the venue was nicer in a lot of ways, a bit more space, specially round the shop and the bar. Whether it made the atmosphere JUST a bit less exciting, I don't know, but not noticeably so. We were sitting in the small area set aside, which was MUCH better than last year's disabled area, but that did mean that we weren't right close to the front and the crowds, both good and bad in that!
Tried for AGES to post this, since Wednesday night/Thursday morning!
As was said elsewhere I think, 'The Secretary' did his usual announcement, same as last year, which was the point at which it got exciting!
I was looking forward to seeing the new line-up, I was never in the 'OMG it's not JUST GACKT' panic-group, and I have to say that it was great!
GACKT and Jon's voices worked PERFECTLY together, neither dominated, neither monopolised the stage or show, they both enhanced each other's performances and brought an extra something to the show. My eyes were still drawn repeatedly to GACKT of course, heh heh heh, but at no time did I feel that the show was lessened in anyway by having the two vocalists. But then Jon was an excellent performer himself.
The highlight HAS to have been 'Vanilla'. Brilliantly performed, VERY sexy, lots of gleeful fanservice.
If I have one small criticism, it was that there were a few too many long moments while the guys posed to a background of sustained guitar and drumming, and when I say 'long' I mean over five minutes at a time, HOWEVER, the image we had to stare at in front of us on the stage was well worth the eardrum bleeding!
