Gackt blogs in-depth about the earthquake and tsunami Japan suffered yesterday, asks Japanese people to help each other out and for the International community to aid Japan.

Gackt speaks of forming a charity and many of his friends in the entertainment industry are blogging about joining him. When we have news on this, we will post it publicly.

The powerful earthquake that unleashed a devastating tsunami Friday appears to have moved the main island of Japan by 8 feet (2.4 meters) and shifted the Earth on its axis.

The temblor, which struck Friday afternoon near the east coast of Japan, killed hundreds of people, caused the formation of 30-foot walls of water that swept across rice fields, engulfed entire towns, dragged houses onto highways, and tossed cars and boats like toys. Some waves reached six miles (10 kilometers) inland in Miyagi Prefecture on Japan's east coast.

EXPLOSION AT REACTOR
caused by a failure at pumping station, not the Fukushima Daiichi reactor, crews working to flood the chamber with sea water to cool it down, which would prevent a melt-down. Radiation levels have gone down, however, the evacuation zone has been extended 20km. Fukushima Danni plant nearby also on alert.

Death toll for earthquake and tsunami at 900 dead and 700 missing, in the town of Minamisanriku, 9,500 are unaccounted for.

The quake also disrupted rail service and affected air travel, but limited rail service was back Saturday. Flight cancellations left at least 23,000 people stranded in two Tokyo airports.

Six million households, more than 10% of the total in Japan, are without electricity.

The III Marine Expeditionary Force, based on the island of Okinawa south of Japan is lending support with crews supplies and helicopters.

Online search engine Google said it has launched an online database to help people in Japan find their friends and relatives. The service collects information about the location and condition of those reported missing.
