Word and image for September

Here is the scene for September from my 1901 Japanese woodblock calendar. The picture shows people collecting sea-water at night (when it is cooler to do heavy work) with a view of Suma behind; the seawater was used to make brine and salt, historically important in the preparation of foods such as tofu.
This month, I've left the date grid on the page so that you get more of an idea how the original calendar looks; I'll try to do this in future if I don't need the space for including the poem. The picture of Gackt is courtesy of Arena magazine (Arena 37 Special Vol 59 August 2009).
