Word and image: a distraction from YFC fever!

For excused_early , here is my first Word and Image post with the original Japanese text. 

I have a new (new to me, I mean - it's published by Tuttle since 1979) bilingual book called A Hundred Verses from Old Japan.  From it, I've chosen this poem by tadami mibu to match a recent photo of Gackt (courtesy of the July 2010 issue of Cool-up magazine - credit for scan to LJ's noalani).  The original poem is a tanka (31 syllables) and is indeed old: it was written in 960.

We had nice weather here this week and I picked some roses in the garden to keep me company whilst I enjoyed my new book.  The book has illustrations of its own but they are quite simple (and not easy to see) so I haven't used them.
