karadin.livejournal.comI was interviewed last year on NHK's Pop Up Japan, and I think I surprised the host when he asked, what do you like about Gackt? And instead of responding right away with, ah, I think he is gorgeous or I like all his styles of music, I said I appreciated Gackto's work ethic, he has worked so hard to get where he is, and strives every day to be better - it's not worth doing if it's not done well - could be Gackt's motto.
Gackt recently posted about having a sore throat and a fever, and his worries for his health, but also said he was recovering, and excited to do further touring. On one hand, his honesty is refreshing, but it also makes his fans worry a bit, we don't want him working himself into a hospital bed as he did after his first solo tour.
But I think we must also trust that Gackt knows his limits, and that he has a dedicated staff as well as friends to look after him. Through the years he has pushed his limits, yet never as far as in the MARS tour.
I would also like to remind fans how happy Gackt has been in recent appearances, smiling more and laughing more than I've ever seen. After moving away from music for some time, he's back to doing what he loves most, composing, recording and performing as we, his fans, have been asking him to do for the past few years.
Certainly give the man your best wishes, but a little trust would not hurt either.
