Kenshin Festival Second Successive Appearance

Gackt-san calmly, yet passionately, spoke about his thoughts regarding Kenshin. Presently, Joetsu Times company is having an interview with Gackt-san who is performing for a second consecutive year in the 「83rd Kenshin Festival」 War Procession (on the 23rd). In the historical drama series on NHK TV, Gackt-san brought to life a 「beautiful supple」 new portrayal of Kenshin. Within a sense of uniqueness and sensitivity, 「the portrayal of beautiful Kenshin」 persisted, overlayed with a sense of pride.
Persevering with 「Honor」 through an age of war, Uesugi Kenshin lived by the Bushido (samurai code of chivalry). Gackt-san empathetically embraces the character image and way of life that 「within a nature that is charismatic to the point of being artistic contains madness as well」, for it overlaps with 「the ways that (he) himself believes in」. 「There were many actors who have played the part of Uesugi Kenshin in the past. However, I am not merely acting the role of Kenshin, but expressing Kenshin's thoughts and feelings, and embodying his mind and heart」.
By personally making an appearance, (Gackt-san) hopes to bring a climatic rush to the Kenshin Festival and the growth of Joetsu city. 「It will benefit the town if a lot of people come. When the town benefits the people will also benefit. If I can be of help in this occasion」 said (Gackt-san), 「Uesugi Kenshin ended with the drama series, and can only be seen again at this Kenshin Festival. For me it's also been a year. I hope you will all look forward to it.」 is the message (he) sends.
The Kenshin Festival will be on the 23rd and 24th. Gackt-san is scheduled to make an appearance in the war procession on the first day.

Ｇａｃｋｔ（ガクト）さんは穏やかに、かつ熱く、謙信に対する思いを語った―。上越タイムス社はこのほど、「第八十三回謙信公祭」の出陣行列（二十三日）に二年連続で出演するＧａｃｋｔさんにインタビューを行った。大河ドラマで、「美しくしなやかな」新しい謙信像を表現したＧａｃｋｔさん。独特の間合いと感性の中に、「美しい謙信を表現する」こだわりと誇りがちりばめられた。
戦乱の世に「義」を貫き、武士道を生きた上杉謙信。Ｇａｃｋｔさんは「アーティスティックなまでのカリスマ性の中に狂気を併せ持つ」その人物像や生き方に共感を抱き、「自分の信じる道」を重ね合わせてきたという。「過去に多くの役者が上杉謙信を演じてきた。だけど、僕は謙信を演じたのではなく、謙信の想いを表現し、そして体現したんだ」。
自身が出演することで、謙信公祭の盛り上がりと上越市の発展を願う。「多くの人たちが来れば町が潤う。町が潤えば人も潤う。そのきっかけや手伝いができれば」と語り、「上杉謙信は大河ドラマが終わって、この謙信公祭でしか見られない。僕も一年ぶり。楽しみにしていてほしい」とメッセージを贈った。
謙信公祭は二十三、二十四日。Ｇａｃｋｔさんは初日の出陣行列に登場する予定。
