The community began with sponsorship only, the com was also locked at this point.
When we unlocked some of the posts on the community, people could see the com and decide for themselves if they wanted to join.
Sponsorship is quicker, screening takes up to a month in some instances, depending on how busy the Officers of the Membership Section are.
If you were uncomfortable with asking someone, you could have gone for screening, as most of our new members have.
For now, both options are available, both have their good points, as always we are looking to make our methods more efficient. Our primary goal is always the fostering of a respectful and friendly community, so that means at times our members have to jump through a few hoops.
