GACKT From A to Z - Another World

From 2009! One of Gackt's most energetic and charismatic live performances - he's got his guitar on a strap on his thigh - Swing that axe, Gackt!

with Gackt are You, Chirolyn, Minami and Chachamaru!

King Charisma.
He's really charming in here, isn't he.

Remember that show where he brought Kimchee to Tsuyoshi's house and they were eating it and playing various instruments afterwards.... that piano part is terrifying, especially now, since I finally saw a translated version and came to understand what was going on!
He's really terribly good at being seductive, ah...

Even if viewed from an objective viewpoint, one can see why he's said to be popular with women (! am not talking of girls only here) in an instant, don't you agree?
He's incredibly cute in here too ~
Yet that aura of elegance and ... I dunno what it is but whatever decision he makes I know I can trust him, it's going to be alright-atmosphere around him never fades.
Somehow.

Okay, I obviously went over the top with responding.
Whatever - Blame King Charisma!!

I translated that kimchee one. XD
Oh, yes, he's surely the master of seduction alright...
And yeah, I think a LOT of guys would feel all tingly (inside and....outside XD) if G pulled the piano trick on them!

Always love watching him perform. He's really quite the showman.

I remember spazzing over this performance because it was one of the best I had ever seen of ANOTHER WORLD! So energetic, such charisma; what we can always expect from Gackt-sama and GacktJOB! :D Thank you for sharing this! I loved watching it again!

I have this version of the song on my ipod just because it is so EPIC. It's funny cause I usually go back forth listening to this version and the original and you can definitely tell the difference. The years definitely make GACKT sound sooo different but in a extremely good way

thanks for posting this high-voltage performance.
for a while there, he was in such a great mood that he even danced for real. made my heart melt.
this song is wonderful, it samples from BFS's "1985" and a touch of SR-71, both of which look like stone-age artifacts after Gackt's musical re-design. gawwwd i love the man.

Kyaaaaaa!!!! ......
Thank you, I've done my fangirling for today.
But srsly, he looks and sounds incredible here. And this is from 2009! Our man keeps getting better and better.... How is that possible, when we always think he's already perfect! 0__o

But I've always wished that he'd finally fix those English sentences.
What do you, native English speakers, think about this? It doesn't bother you too much, I guess? Maybe it bothers me more because I'm Japanese and...um...an E/J translator at that! XD

[identity profile] b-briarwood.livejournal.com 2010-01-18 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
It doesn't really bother me. I just laugh about it and say "that's GACKT!" Last night I was listening to a few new cds that arrived recently and realized some of the lines were in English only when I read the liner notes. He has gotten better but he needs a native speaker to proof his lyrics first.

However, I imagine I will make more then a few cringe inducing mistakes when I get over there. I think it's just our natures to be more forgiving when we see someone making an effort.

Ah, thank you for the insight. I think you're right about people (in the US where I am, at least) being more tolerant about others' mistakes in English.

But srsly, so many so-called "top Japanese artists" fall into this rather embarrassing trap of grammatical mistakes in their English lyrics. Why, oh why don't they just ask ANY native speakers to check them!? G could just ask his bodyguards, for instance. 9_9
I'd rather not see G included in this group. =/

interesting you bring this -- i've wondered. he is so careful and meticulous about some things and then.....
in this song ("Another World") it doesn't bother me. his accented english is attractive, adorable, comprehensible and appropriate. other songs are more mixed: his little missteps are negligible -- you get what he means, but it is so forced, distorted and distracting as to sometimes be un-musical. maybe i'm imagining things, but i am pretty sure i can tell when he understands clearly what he is saying and when it is a string of sounds that he doesn't personally inhabit, like his special french on that cooking show. XDDD. his most egregious english affronts are misplaced emphases, like every time he sings "decayed" when he intends "decade". i can't understand why he doesn't fling the libretto at one of the many, many willing and worshipful native speakers and friends, and just have them mark it up for him, or something. maybe he doesn't care what we think? is it possible he doesn't realize it's right on the line?
