Great choice of picture! My last lapse into buying older Gackt stuff brought me this photoshoot - which I like very much.
I partly enjoy the way that he's kept the cigarette despite the fight! It reminds me of a capsize in a yacht off Malta when I was hit so hard on the head and arm that I was unconscious in the water for a few seconds; I came to - pinned under the hull and with my mind thinking, "Keep your eyes closed or you'll lose your contact lenses." There's something illogically glorious about preserving attention to detail in the middle of a crisis! It's probably a symptom of some grave psychological flaw but, if I share it with Gackt, who cares, eh?
The proverb is good too. Yes, it always pays to be one step ahead of your destiny and Gackt's a pretty good example of how to make a success at this (as long as he's not playing his Moonchild role at the time!) There's a similar Chinese saying (Get up one more time than you fall down and you will always win) and another one which I like: If you fall down, then fight on your knees. I can't think of anythiing along the same lines in English!
