GACKT-SAMA's NEW SINGLE WILL BE TITLED 'GHOST' For release on January 28th, 2009.

Described as a 'power tune' that, can also be called an electronic dance music! (Oh Be Still My Heart) The title "GHOST" doesn't mean human spirits, but is an expression of the "Ghost in the Machine" (not a nod to the Police song of the same name) - a reference to perhaps, ZERO and the GHOST DIVISION's existence as cyborgs in the new RR Saga.

Shinseido is taking pre-orders now, as this store only ships within Japan, you may use the services of our community shop, I-TM4U to procure it from them. Shinsedio provided a special bag with the Nine Nine Box, so perhaps they will have similar promo materials?

Seiichi Nomura - Gackt's photographer of choice who brought you the STUNNING Ryu no Kenshin photobook last year, is releasing another beautiful edition of his magazine N/S EYES ON featuring Gackt.

Alice Nine will appear with Gackt on Music Japan, and one of the band members blogged briefly about meeting Gackt again after a long time.

A bit of a strange question, but I honestly have no idea. I know Returner was #1 on Oricon, and I know a little about Oricon's significance. How is #6? Good, so-so? Higher or lower than expected?

Oricon, until recently, was the only source of sales charts in Japan, so to break into the top ten is a BIG DEAL. We are happy with 6, but we would love No.1 - usually the first week of sales hit the highest mark.

Oricon, however does not count overseas sales, or sales from Gackt's fanclub, so the number quite possibly could have been higher than 6.

Billboard recently started sales charts in Japan, so I will have to see how Jesus is doing there.

Not fanclub sales - since that was the only way to get the limited edition, wow, I imagine the number might be different indeed.

I wonder if he's going to do Ghost the same way, with that to consider.

He had released all his product the same way, editions for the fanclub first. If you go only by the Oricon sales chart, and combine all Gackt singles and albums, he has yet to reach 1 million records sold, after ten years as a solo artist.

This is in comparison to contemporaries L'Arc who have sold 25 million records. Interesting, ne?

First, but I remember it being possible to preorder the limited edition of Returner last year, whereas this year the limited edition seems exclusive to the fanclub alone.

Interesting indeed. Is that because of these limited editions? Or something else - like Gackt not being as popular in Japan as we'd like to think?

Going by Gackt's website, while not 25 million, says something else: "All 27 singles and 8 albums have been released, which sold over 10 million in total in Japan."

Hes very popular, as a celebrity and entertainer, his concert tours sell out, and anything he promotes sells in the millions, but his record sales aren't as big as he is.

Gackt stated he has a number of singles to release in 2009, and hopefully a new original album in the summer.

You just need to buy from the right shops. (Like CD Japan ect)

Yes, if you purchase from Japanese shops it will count, which means purchases from our community shop I-TM4U count towards Oricon.
