Fuurin Kazan, episode 32, part 2.

In this scene, Kagetora, (GACKT) the young warlord of Echigo must find allies, and he seeks out the noble Usami, (OGATA KEN) - Usami once fought against Kagetora's father - so Kagetora must find words to convince him. Kagetora praises Usami's conduct, (even against his own father) and states his claim that he does not wish to rule Echigo himself, but to restore it to the rightful Lord, and in doing this, wins Usami as his ally and confidant.

Gackt was quite nervous working with Ogata, whom he admired, but they both had a instant connection when they met (Ogata fondly called Gackt an 'extraterrestrial') and Gackt asked to do this particular scene in one take, so it stayed fresh, after the scene, Ogata smiled and gave Gackt a 'thumbs up' which Gackt stated, made him so happy that he was determined to work hard to get such a smile from Ogata again. Gackt said that he looked up to Ogata like a father.

Gackt and Ogata Ken

My friend from Japan who is a Dear sent this message to me - not a direct translation or quote.


Gackt attended Ogata's funeral and he said he couldn't stop crying because Ogata Ken had never mentioned any health problems, in fact, he had always seemed to be concerned about Gackt's health! and would lecture him with a warm smile and kindness.

Gackt and Ken had promised to have dinner together next week and Gackt was so looking forward to seeing him again.

Gackt said he will be strong and stop crying because Ken would scold him not to cry.

Gackt has had so many messages from fans when they heard of Ogata Ken's passing that he made this very personal statement in order that fans would not worry about him, and he thanks you all for your kind thoughts.

In light of Ogata Ken's passing I thought I'd scan and post up the article which featured him. I regret to inform that I have no translation skills, however I know there are other more linguistically-capable comrades here and thought I'd at least present it if one of you'd like to give it a whirl. And being such a close friend to Gackt, I hope this will be considered relevant.
