How to Introduce Your Friend to Gackt

Ok, random question time. ^^;

What songs and/or vids would you recommend to a person who has NEVER heard of Gackt before? Like, they are a completely blank slate.

I would offer Lust of Blood, Redemption, and RETURNER ~Yami no Shuuen~ as a song or vid.

I think it's quite hard to choose songs for a new fan since Gackt encompasses so many genres of music.

Perhaps there can be some sort of How to Introduce Your Friend to Gackt tutorial made from all of this. LOL

I usually show them pictures, and play MARS, MOON or DIABOLOS.

For video's it's the Kagen no Tsuki - LUNA, Warsurenakara, and Returner - the NHK Red and White song battle version. If they are into yaoi, the MARS Vanilla!

My sons favorite Gackt song is Redemption
My daughter's favorite Gackt song is Secret Garden
My husband's favorite Gackt song is Rain
For me, picking a song I like at the moment - Fragrance.

I usually ask them first which music they usually listen to and what they like, which movies, etc. ^^ Then I search trhough my memory for something they might like and show them these. For example someone who usually likes to watch moving/philosophical dramas/movies and likes to listen to melodical music (whether melodic metal or something.. uh..
'poppier') I'd show something like Saikai Story or even Seki-ray. (I adore those songs +laughs+)

If the person was a Gamer, it'd be the easiest. Redemption, Diabolos, Crisis Core/Genesis FVs with Gackt songs...

What I did, to convert my mother, was I watch DIABOLOS. She stared, awed, when he rode in on that horse. Now everytime I watch a concert and she's around, and they do a close up of his face she will comment on how gorgeous she is.
She once even said "He is the most beautiful man I have ever seen."

VERY good choice, I tell you!
I personally love the 6th Day & 7th Night Concert most. But DIABOLOS was my first DVD and also the first concert I saw. Even MY mother was stunned. And anyone else who saw DIABOLOS.
No matter what, they always go like "Hoooo~~~ wow wow wow!" When they are watching the beginning of DIABOLOS, the opening movie & so on.. then to the middle part they all laugh their butts off because they wouldn't suspect someone that 'cool' would do something actually that funny.. the second part has never failed to amuse them and make people who watch it smile. Because of Gackts sweetness & being a dork without losing his coolness and beauty... and .. and those kitties +laughs+ really, it's always amusing to see their reaction when Gakkun plays with his kitties... then the talk part I almost everytime try to explain what he is saying, so that they are never bored of what they're seeing..

Through the concert I would always repeat this in many different versions, to make sure I don't adore him just because he's amusing: He's fun no? But still, to me his music is not something I just turn on every time that I am bored. He's so much more,... you know, it'd probably take a decade to explain exactly why I love that man.

I actually wanna own that concert. :/ But I'm trying to save a bit of money at the moment, spending only on necessities...that i can use...although it is a necessity, I can live without it lol

Well, she was a bit mocking of his name at first (in like the first couple of years) but then I'd tell about things he's said and done and she warmed up to him. Then she saw DIABOLOS and that was it >D

I also think it depends on who you want to convert*laughs*
I, for example got to him through the infamous vanilla-live, but I'd never show that to someone who isn't into yaoi or at least open-minded enough to not say "OMG, he's so gay!"^^;;
so, PV-wise, I'd choose Returner, perhaps...just because it's very Gackt-ish and at the same time visually very pleasing, even to someone who never heard J-rock before^^

Well xD I tried to do this more than a year ago, almost right after I discovered him too. I knew Hyde sooner and thanks to him I discovered Gackt - because of Moon Child of course XDDD So we watched Moon Child together, she thought Gackt is a dork, but very cute, but her love became Hyde XDD So I failed a bit, but she likes Gackt´s music anyway, even she is more Hyde´s fan XD Of course then I showed her several concerts vids and more a more, she liked it, but still - Hyde won...

But another story was with my other classmate and friend. She never liked my obssesion with japanese music and while I talked about Gackt, she was just "WTF again that japanese guy O.o -_- another hour killed by Maraja´s talking about this weird one" But XD Right after our graduation we had a lunch in restaurant and she suddenly started to talk about youtube videos and that she found OMG!! !!SQUEE!! AMAZING DUET PIANO/DRUMS played by some japanese girls XD I already had an idea what did she find XD I asked her for a name of video and she said that i was somenthing like "Re..." But she was not sure about the whole name. But I answered that it was regret by Malice Mizer and those girls were actually Kami and Gackt. She a bit shocked XDDD Then she desperately asked me if I can send her some of Gackt´s and as well Malice Mizer songs, mostly with piano :D

Hmmmm but I think that you must know what does your friend like before you will recommend any of Gackt´s songs/videos. Good thing is, that you can choose from really a lot various styles. Gackt is amazing with this *o*

I think, like others have said, it depends on the person.

My friends were interested in Gackt the moment they say that Vanilla live performance. My eldest brother really loved the Returner PV, the whole look of it and the concept of Samurai and such. Meanwhile, my other brother has heard a bunch of different Gackt songs and likes the sound of some of them (the guitar heavy songs). And then, one of my uncles watched the Seki-ray PV and he thought that it was pretty good.

In the end, it all depends on the people. Though, I have to say, Gackt is rather easy to introduce people to, since he and his music are so diverse, just like people. ^^

12gatsu no love song, probabably the chinese one with Wang Lee Hom since more people know Wang Lee Hom. THen I let them listen to the Japanese one that will wow them more. haha. or even the one he performed last december. that was so beautiful.

I don't think my friend knows much about Asian music in general lol So using the Chinese version with Lee Hom isn't gonna be helpful ^^;;; But I think I'll add that to my introduction list, at least the Japanese version!
