Gackt and Ogata Ken

My friend from Japan who is a Dear sent this message to me - not a direct translation or quote.


Gackt attended Ogata's funeral and he said he couldn't stop crying because Ogata Ken had never mentioned any health problems, in fact, he had always seemed to be concerned about Gackt's health! and would lecture him with a warm smile and kindness.

Gackt and Ken had promised to have dinner together next week and Gackt was so looking forward to seeing him again.

Gackt said he will be strong and stop crying because Ken would scold him not to cry.

Gackt has had so many messages from fans when they heard of Ogata Ken's passing that he made this very personal statement in order that fans would not worry about him, and he thanks you all for your kind thoughts.

I have absolutely no concept of what a Japanese funeral is like, but I hope they're not as banal and inappropriate to the memory of the deceased as the American ones I've attended.

Wonder if this will give rise to another song.

I'm glad that lots of Gackt's fans immediately thought of his loss when they heard this news. Gackt was very open about his relationship with Ogata so it's good to know that the significance for him was recognized and that the same openness was shown by fans.

I'm sure the funeral was very difficult for Gackt - will always bring back lots of other ghosts as well, I think.

This is horrible. Poor Gackt :( It is always hard when you lose someone you hold very dear, and it is not the first time this happens to him.

My thoughts are with him, and I hope and pray that he will be better soon. He doesn't deserve this kind of pain, and it weights my heart to know that he is now suffering because of this.
