While the story and script somewhat suffer compared to most games of its genre, the beautiful art and character design was very creative and probably Bujingai's strongest asset. A rainbow of colors in nearly every stage, enemy, even Lau's more simple attacks and moves were flamboyant and dazzling.
A visual fan book was released around the same time as the game.
Fans of Bujingai or even anyone interested in the concept art behind games might be interested. I have it and it's in full color, with a few pages dedicated to each of the main characters and their development, the countless unique enemies, settings, and so on. Also an interview with the producers in the back of the book, including Gackt and I believe a few of the other voice actors, though it's in Japanese so I'm at a loss to translate.
