[personal profile] akogare. Thank you very much.

Last year there was a request from Jouetsu city for a performance at the Kenshin Kousai, and due to the Chuuetsu offshore earthquake in Niigata prefecture*, I thought if I cheer up the people of Niigata that have been visited by the earthquake disaster just a little, and I assisted.
I heard that 200.000 tourists visited Jouetsu city, which is about five times the visitors of an average year.

And now this year.
Once again I received passionate thoughts from Jouetsu city that says they'd like me to lend them my power.

In Niigata there is still the reality that many people are inevitably leading a lifestyle in temporary residences.
There is the reality that there are the scars and serious wounds of the earthquake disaster and there is still sadness, in spite of the ongoing weathering.

Therefore, due to the [heart of righteousness]** that Kenshin conveyed, I decided my participation in the Kenshin Kousai for a second time. I thought that carrying out my mission was necessary.

This year the procession of departure for the front will be carried out by twice the number of people of last year, about 1000 people.
Every year the scale gets bigger,
if the [Kenshin Kousai] gives courage they can be proud of to the people of Jouetsu generation after generation, and if the festival that represents Japan makes them become one, I wish for that from my heart.

By all means, please come to see the real [festival].
Due to [righteousness]**, this year I will provide my assistance again.

*The Chuuetsu offshore earthquake occurred in July 2007. It was a magnitude 6.6 earthquake that mostly affected Niigata but could also be felt in cities as far as Tokyo. Eleven people died, at least 1000 were injured and over 300 buildings were destroyed.

**The kanji used here, gi, actually means a lot of things, for example morality, righteousness, justice, honour and also 'doing the right thing'.
