Translation: Arena 37°C 2007.07 Interview
critique welcome - yes
I wanted to try my hands at translating an interview and randomly chose this. Since it took awfully long already, here are keywords one to three of eight, I shall translate the rest later. Enjoy ^^
Part.2 [RETURNER~yami no shuuen~] KEYWORD INTERVIEW
Here we chose keywords from the lyrics of the single [RETURNER~yami no shuuen~] and had Gackt answer for us.
[Until now my longest sleep was about 56 hours, I guess. I slept until the night of the third day (laughs)]
[kodoku ni obieta tsuki] (the moon frightened by solitude)
-Gackt-san, have you ever been frightened by solitude?
[yes! Being alone is a very frightening thing, isn't it.]
-that was unexpected...... Do you catch sight of solitude like a beloved person? (wtf?)
[you see, the present time. Because once I chose to live in a world of isolation. I'll be alone! I'll possess strength that's only possible by living alone! Everyone exists alone, I'll recognize and understand this phrase! ......so I thought, at the time when I came out to Tokyo......]
-stopping here, so in fact you were frightened by existing alone......?
[That is of course frightening. For example, it's lonely when a friend left. Especially when I went solo from Malice Mizer, I immensely thought so. If, at the time I went out to Tokyo, I had been in fear of being alone, there wouldn't have been the present me, I think. It'll be very painful, but I'll get my own beliefs through......, I thought about various things. In order to get my own beliefs through till the end, I mustn't fear isolation.]
[namida de mienai] (I can't see through my tears)
-At what time can't you see the surroundings through your tears?
[Of course, when an important person dies......I guess.]
[anata no hitomi ni] (in your eyes)
-Gackt, when you make your ideal, the "eyes" are? (?) This is without regard to man or woman.
[What's this question! Nabe-san (annotation: this magazine's editor-in-chief Watanabe. He's a man. laughs) don't you like me? (laughs)]
-But of course (laughs).
[u~n, it's not the shape of the eyes and such, but when we have a conversation for a little while, at the time when our eyes unexpectedly meet for a second and they ask back "un, what is it?", and they smile at me pleasantly..... But it's not just simply that our eyes have met, but that the owner of the eyes asked "What is it? Did something happen?" in return, I like that. I like that a lot!]
-What kind of eyes could that be.....?
[I have a feeling that this is not a question of the eyes. Like, it's a moment in which the heart can see, or rather in which we feel that we can see the heart. The eyes of a person who can see the heart. Therefore, "Eh-, what is it? What are you looking at?"...... A feeling like that.
