Rank doesn't really matter here, becoming a Captain is easy, just make a few posts or comments. Captain allows you to nominate your friends into the com. There are some people who just want to watch, and they are happy to stay Sgts.

Those members who are Staff Officers have these ranks because they volunteered for the not-fun stuff, monitoring the com, screening recruits, in some cases helping to run our affiliate coms, Bunraku Blog and Redleather_Love (for Genesis) so if you're up for it, you can gain rank very quickly.
